Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our restaurant and social enterprise training centre. The Chef will play a key role in food preparation, menu development, and mentoring refugee newcomers in a supportive, culturally diverse kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Develop menus that reflect cultural diversity and meet customer needs
- Train and mentor refugee newcomers in kitchen skills and Canadian food safety practices
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the kitchen
- Manage food inventory and minimize waste
- Comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Mandatory: Lived experience as a refugee
- Proven experience working as a Chef or in a similar kitchen role
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Language requirement: English
- Language assets: French, Kiswahili, or any East African language
- Africans are strongly encouraged to apply
