Heading to Saskatchewan this summer? #ComeDiscoverUs

Yes, Francophonie exists in Saskatchewan! And in more than one corner.

Often the most well-known in everyone's mind are Gravelbourg and its cultural "gem", at the heart of one of Saskatchewan's Francophone strongholds: the Co-Cathedral Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Gravelbourg, visible for miles around. Or Batoche, this national historic site: a symbol of the resilience and cultural renewal of the Métis.

However, there are more than 20 Francophone communities throughout the province! Each with its own history, landmarks, fascinating tourist attractions, and unique campsites.

Through #ComeDiscoverUs, we want to highlight some of these communities and give you a taste of the best Francophone destinations in our beautiful, diverse, and vast province: Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan is nature, greenery, plains, northern lights, camping, sports, fishing, history... The province spans an area of 651,900 square kilometers, full of cultural richness and vibrant legends waiting for you.

For this 4th edition, here is the list of destinations and attractions we have chosen for you:
Our recommended destinations:

  • Bellegarde: known for its national historic site "Fort Espérance," its Cannington Manor provincial historic park, Moose Mountain provincial park, Moosomin regional park, etc.
  • Bellevue, Domremy, and Saint Louis: known for the Fransaskois legend trail, the historic bridge of Saint Louis, Bison Antiquus – prehistoric, the Red River Cart, the cinematic route (Gabriel Dumont), etc.
  • Debden: and its Campground regional park where you can find the unmissable Morin Lake that campers can't get enough of!
  • Gravelbourg: and its cultural "jewel," its renowned museum, and its parks to visit!
  • Ponteix: and its "Notre-Dame des champs" statue, you can also find "La croix glorieuse," and obviously surprising museums!
  • Zenon Park: known to be the favorite spot of paleontology and archaeology fans!

Beyond these destinations, there are many more attractions waiting for you all over Saskatchewan, here is an exhaustive list:

  • Amaranth Designs
  • Bellevue Archives
  • CAFS - African Francophone Community of Saskatchewan
  • Champêtre County
  • Saskatoon Francophone Federation
  • Auvergnois de Ponteix
And how can you tour Saskatchewan without taking the time to stop at one of our incredible Économusée or even all of them !
An Économusée is a concept that combines a craft enterprise with a visitor center open to the public, the idea is to discover the manufacturing process: an UNMISSABLE educational and tourist experience.
To date, 3 Économusées exist and have been inaugurated by CÉCS:

  • Black Fox Farm & Distillery
  • Over the Hill Orchards and Winery
  • Susan Robertson Pottery
