Over the years, the province of Saskatchewan has welcomed more and more newcomers/immigrants. As a community, we are pleased that people from all over the world are choosing our beautiful province to build or rebuild their lives.
Despite the opportunities that rural communities offer – both socially and professionally – most of our new citizens prefer to settle in the larger cities of Regina and Saskatoon.
There are several reasons for this. In my experience, the main reason is that newcomers/immigrants are not familiar with these beautiful rural communities. From their places of departure, most of the time, only big urban centres will be presented and praised to them.
Rural areas offer many employment opportunities that can facilitate the socio-economic integration of newcomers/immigrants.
The Rural Sask: Work, Live and Thrive project is an opportunity to facilitate the meeting and discovery of the employment opportunities and quality of life that rural communities can offer to newcomers/immigrants to our province.
