The green economy is a topical issue that has gained considerable interest in recent years. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, a green economy “results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. In its simplest expression, a green economy is low-carbon, resource efficient, and socially inclusive.”
The CÉCS is working on projects with various partners to increase community awareness and support the implementation of green economy projects. The CÉCS Economic Development Officers (EDO) can assist with business start-ups and can support communities and businesses wishing to embark on green initiatives, as well as developing training opportunities for entrepreneurs wanting to learn more on this topic.
